Nissan India will launch a new small car called the Micra. The hatchback will be based on the global compact car platform (V platform) and will be manufactured in five countries which include Thailand, India and China. In India, it will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai and production begins next year.
The Nissan Micra could sport a 1.2-litre petrol engine from Nissan’s stable. The Micra should be available in diesel variant also. In India, the Micra will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ritz; Hyundai i20; Fiat Punto; VW Polo; Skoda Fabia; Chevrolet Beat and Ford Figo.
