We bring you some of the most loved films that just strike the right chord between siblings.
Children of Heaven (Directed by Majid Majidi): A story of a family in Iran who live a happy but extremely simple life in their humble financial position. The story tugs at your heart strings with its endearing appeal as the adorable brother-sister pair try to conceal the loss of a pair of shoes in different ways.
My Brother Nikhil (Directed by Onir): “Standing by against all odds”— this is no more a mere phrase in this movie where Juhi Chawla is the elder sister who supports her gay brother in his fight against AIDS, in a society where homosexuality and AIDS are such a taboo that even one’s own parents turn their backs on their child.
Masoom (Directed by Shekar Kapur): True to its title, the film beautifully depicts the innocent relationship among brothers and sisters, which rises above all complications in the family and ultimately wins over with its sheer purity of love and care. We also got to see a young Urmila Matondkar and Jugal Hansraj dancing to the evergreen Lakdi ki Kathi.
Anjali (Directed by Mani Ratnam): Two-year-old Anjali doesn’t understand much except loving everything around her. Be it a small bug, an ex-convict whom the entire colony fears or her elder brother who envies her for getting more attention from their parents. Anjali, with her innocent smile and natural acting, makes us love her more than anybody else in the film.
Hare Rama Hare Krishna (Directed by Dev Anand): It set the tone of the rebellious 70’s and the angst of a sister who turns into a hippie and is under the influence of drugs as her protective brother tries to bring her out of it. The film sent out a strong message against use of drugs.
