The Budget session of Andhra Pradesh Legislature started off today with Governor E S L Narasimhan's customary address to the joint sitting of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council, during which, the opposition parties staged a walkout. Reacting to Governor's speech later, state BJP party chief G Kishan Reddy said, "His address on the first day of budget session of the state assembly was pac
k of lies." "The speech should have been a reflection of government's performance and its development works. But his address was far from truth," Reddy said. "It seems the state Congress government has misled the Governor, who read the 40-page address, without mentioning any burning issues that the state has been facing," Reddy told reporters here. The BJP leader said that there was no mention of issues like irrigation, drought situation, corruption and farmers's problems in the speech. "I was surprised to know that the the Governor did not even mention the 40-day-long 'Sakala Janula Samme' (general strike) last year by the government employees in support of separate Telangana state," Reddy said, adding that there was no mention of Telangana movement in the speech. The state BJP chief recently concluded 24-day long Telangana Poru Yatra (struggle for Telangana).
