The junior doctors of Andhra Medical College, attached to the King George Hospital and other teaching hospitals in the city, stopped attending emergency duties also from Friday evening following a decision taken by the AP Junior Doctors' Association after it failed to get a firm assurance from the government on its demands.
The decision came after more than 100 junior doctors participated in a mass one-day hunger strike on the premises of KGH.
With the house surgeons also extending support to the junior doctors, the patient care in KGH and other hospitals will be affected from Saturday.
