
Mukherjee said that "There are several reasons why I am optimistic about India's long run road prospect. For the first time it appears entirely within the realm of possibility that India will break into double digit growth within the next five years."
Presenting a bullish outlook of the economy, Mukherjee said that the Indian economy has "done exceedingly well in these difficult times through a combination of careful policy making, dynamic industrial leadership and a bit of luck."
Last quarter, India saw a robust growth of 8.6 per cent and the country’s GDP for the 2009-10 fiscal stood at 7.4 per cent.
Economic growth had slowed down to 6.7 per cent in 2008-09 after over 9 per cent growth in the previous three fiscals because of global financial crisis.
