Indian spinners have broken Sri Lankan batting backbone. The team that looked on top till yesterday has lost all the psychological or any other advantage it had over the visitors. Sri Lankans have lost eight wickets for a paltry 143 runs so far.
Sehwag who dismissed two top Sri Lankan bowlers yesterday scalped one more wicket today. He seems to have excelled in his bowling of late and this must come as a big relief to the Indian dressing room and the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).
The top Sri lankan batting line up fell like a pack of cards without much of a struggle.
We have seen that Sri lankan bowling has crumbled whenever their top trio are unable to score runs.
Paranavitana, Sangakkara and Jayawardene all failed miserably. Paranavitana scored 13 runs while Sangakkara who initially looked settled was sent to the pavilion for merely 28 runs. Jayawardene meanwhile could manage merely 5 runs and gave up his wicket to Ojha.
Meanwhile Samaraweera seems to be the only batsman who is facing Indian bowling attack. But he doesn’t seem to have much of a support. He has scored 33 runs while Mendis is playing at 12 runs.
Meanwhile I must commend Ojha’s contribution with the ball. He was simply amazing today and helped his team well in the absence of Harbhajan Singh. He took three wickets while Ishant Sharma took two wickets.
