CWG Mess Vs London Class

,
Sebastian Coe, chief of the 2012 London Olympic Games Organising Committee had this to say when he visited India last month, “It is very nice to see the Organising Committee so calm with just 64 days left whereas we are on our toes with two years to go for the 2012 London Olympics."
CWG Mess Vs London Class
But, in the last month or so if there was one word missing from the CWG dictionary, it was the word 'calm'. The CWG 2010 has been nothing short of chaos, pandemonium and storm, a storm that has threatened the very integrity of India's status on the world sport map. On the other hand, we had the British Prime Minister David Cameron speaking barely 24 hours ago stating London 2012 would be a matter of pride for Britain and all efforts would be made to make it nothing less than an extravaganza.
MSN decided to do a comparative analysis of some of the key common aspects of the 2 events and here is what we have to show you.
CWG Mess Vs London Class
The Olympic Stadium, London (left): The stadium is 70% complete and the 2012th seat has been fitted. Work on the 80,000 capacity venue began in May 2008 and is expected to be finished on time. Pending projects include building rooms within the stadium and landscaping.
The Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi (right): The re-modelled stadium can now seat 75,000 people. A new roof worth about Rs.300 crore has been put in place. Work is still in progress. Hopefully, there won't be any more 'leaks' at the end of it all.

The Velodrome, London (left): Work on the velodrome began in 2009 and is expected to be completed by 2011. It has a seating capacity of 6,000. The area behind it will be shared with the Basketball arena. People haven't stopped raving about it already.
Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi (right): The velodrome, the weightlifting hall and the boxing arena all water-logged thanks to the rains. The roof is already leaking, and the finishing touches are yet to be given. Hmmm... Do we have to say anymore?

The Aquatics Centre, London (right): Construction is expected to be completed by early 2011. It has a seating capacity of 17,500. The venue has a wave-like roof and there are two temporary wings that will be used by spectators.
S.P Mukherjee Swimming Complex (left): FINA (International Swimming Federation) delegate Sam Ramswamy has called the facilities sub-standard. He was unhappy with the number of changing rooms and the absence of lockers. Ramswamy felt this unfinished pool complex will not be ready to host the swimming events.

The Olympics Village, London (right): The Olympic Village will have residential apartments for around 17,000 athletes and officials. Construction began in June 2008 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011 or early 2012. Touching it too close? Not really, say the authorities.
The Commonwealth Games Village (left): The CWG village on the banks of the Yamuna is till unfinished. The residential quarters haven't been furnished, and sanitation seems to be a big problem. The athletes are certain to have mosquitoes for company.

Labour treatment. London 2012(left): Reports suggest labour practices and safety standards are simply up there with the best in the world. Not a single labourer goes into a venue with the 'mandatory' gear including helmets and vests.
Labour treatment - CWG 2010(right): Cases have been filed against 866 people for labour law violations at CWG sites, and 282 have been convicted. Reports suggest that labourers are working round-the-clock under horrible conditions and extremely unsafe conditions. These pictures tell you a tale.
