A RTI petition regarding the earnings of political parties has been out.According to the report, Congress is the richest party in India with an aggregate income of Rs.1,518 crore earned during 2002-2009.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes second with Rs. 754 crore and the Bahujan Samaj Party third with Rs. 358 crore earnings.
Interestingly BSP had income of Rs. 6 crore in 2002-2003, its income went up to Rs.182 crore in 2009-2010 to become the fastest growing partyin India in terms of income.
The greatest growth average of total assets in this period from 2002-2009 is BSP (59 per cent), Nationalist Congress Party (51 per cent) and the SP (44 per cent).
