Benchmark indices of Indian equities markets pared early day losses to trade flat a little after noon Friday.
The BSE 30-share benchmark index, which opened on a positive note at 19,982.75 points, was ruling at 19,905.11 points, down 25.53 points or 0.13 percent, compared to its previous close at 19,930.64 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty fell 0.28 percent to trade at 5,981.95 points.
The BSE midcap index was ruling 0.36 percent lower while the BSE smallcap index was trading flat.
A majority of the sectoral indices were in the red. Realty and banking stocks were among the major losing scrips while some capital goods and telecom stocks saw buying interest.
Among leading gainers were Bharti Airtel, Hero Honda, Sterlite Industries and L&T, while major losers were Reliance Infra, M&M, Reliance Com and Hindalco Industries.
Other Asian markets were trading mixed.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was trading 0.09 percent lower at 23,615.93 points, while the Japanese markets ended modestly higher at 10,022.39 points.
The Shanghai Composite index was ruling 0.6 percent higher at 2,882.63 points.
