“I wanted my Jai (Amitabh’s character’s name in ‘Sholay’) to come for the music release and I am glad that he has,” the 75-year-old told reporters here Thursday.
“I have completed 50 years in the industry. It’s only because of the love and support of my audience that I’m going on. It’s only because of the audiences that I have been able to make so many films and its through these films that I’ve been able to touch people’s hearts,” said Dharmendra.Amitabh, who released the album along with Dharmendra, congratulated the actor, saying: “I want to first congratulate Dharmaji on this momentous occasion. He has completed 75 years of his life and I want that he lives for 75 years more and keep working in such wonderful films.”
The event also saw many bigwigs including Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Abhay Deol as well Anupam Kher and his son Sikander were also there.
“I want to thank my dad because we did this film mainly to celebrate his 50 years in the industry. From the way people are liking the promos and the songs, it feels that our film has already been released and it’s a hit,” Sunny Deol said.
Scheduled for a Jan 14 release, “Yamla Pagla Deewana” is about an NRI living in Canada, who finds out that he has a father and brother in India and sets out on a journey to find them. The film has been directed by Samir Karnik.
