Alleged member of Manipur militant group PULF caught in AP

http://www.outlookindia.com/images/manipur_kykl_militants_20051212.jpgHyderabad, Jan 13 (NI)  The suburban Cyberabad Policehere have arrested a "terror operative" of the People''s UnitedLiberation Front (PULF), a banned organisation from Manipur,who was allegedly trying to raise funds here.

Abdul Latif alias Ayub, who was working as a privatesecurity guard, was arrested from his residence at Balanagarhere yesterday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Ch DwarakaTirumala Rao said.


The Police have recovered five live rounds of 0.45calibre from his possession.

Latif allegedly told police that he joined PULF in 2006and was arrested by the police in Manipur thrice, in 2007,2008 and 2009.

After his release for the third time, Latif went toBangladesh and joined a splinter group of the outfit, known asPULF (Keshorjit). "He came to Hyderabad to take shelter and toraise funds and procure arms and ammunition. Before joining aprivate security agency three months ago here, Latif wasworking as a caretaker of a lodge in Bowenpally for fivemonths," Rao told PTI.

Latif is currently in judicial custody, but Rao saidpolice were planning to seek his custody soon for furtherinterrogation.

"We have also informed the Manipur police and once he istaken into police custody, their team is likely to come toHyderabad," he said.
