The joint action committee of the students has given a bandh call on Friday to protest against the recommendations of Srikrishna committee.
The Srikrishna committee report evoked strong reactions from the political parties in the state as it added to the already existng confusion on the issue of separate statehood.
The report is only an attempt by the centre to push the ball back into the court of political parties in the state and is something which cannot be implemented, is the initial reaction of all the political parties.
The political parties are likely to get into agitation mode once again from Friday.
TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to resort to another round of fast soon. A decision on this is likely by evening.
The TRS and BJP have outrightly rejected the report and say that nothing short of separate state would be acceptable to them.
No other option like Rayala Telangana or Hyderabad as union territory with some districts would be acceptable at any cost said TRS leaders T Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao.
They said the only solution was to introduce a bill in the budget session of Parliament and suggested that if the Congress MLAs and MPs resort to another round of fast the centre would be left with no option but to introduce a bill in Parliament.
The TRS, they added will extend full support and will also talk to other parties to ensure that a joint fast by all pro T parties and leaders was held at Hyderabad.
BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said that they do not recognize the Srikrishna committee and hence there is no point in discussing about the recommendations given by them. What is necessary is political decision by the centre, he said.
The TDP as usual has given a divergent view. While the party president N Chandrababu Naidu is yet to react, other leaders D Narendra and T leader N Janardhan Reddy expressed divergent views.
While Reddy said that TDP would pay homage at martyrs memorial on Friday and launch its agitation for separate state, the Seemandhra leaders felt that Srikrishna committee had favoured united Andhra Pradesh and they would welcome it. At the same time, they said this issue can be resolved only by the centre. The Centre should make its stand clear on what it feels and stop playing with the sentiments of the people of the state, they said. (Read: Srikrishna report rejects 3 proposed options: HM )
The two left parties also demanded that the centre make its stand clear at the next all-party meeting. If it does not make up its mind by then, the meeting would be of no use.
And not just the politicians even the students are divided over the recommendations. The Telangana students have rejected the report and are gearing up to launch agitations.
This even as Seemandhra students JAC welcomed the report and asked the centre to announce its decision in favour of keeping the state united. If not they too threaten to launch agitations.
