T activists stop Naidu's convoy

,

Gajwel(Medak dist), October 23: As expected, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists created trouble for Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu while he was on his way to Gajwel on Friday to commiserate with the victims of microfinance institutions' harassment.
Naidu's earlier tour of Mahaboobnagar district last month was also marred by similar protests by the TRS which led to stone pelting at his convoy.
As Naidu was reaching Pragnapur near Gajwel, about 20 TRS activists gathered there and began raising slogans demanding that the TDP chief go back. They stopped his convoy at Pragnapur junction and rained stones on it.
The TDP workers following Naidu, retaliated and thrashed the TRS workers.
Two TDP workers sustained head injuries in the attack.
The police brought the situation under control with great difficulty. Later, the police arrested the TRS workers and cleared the way for Naidu. But the belligerent postures of the TDP workers did not end there. Medak district TDP president Mynampati Hanumantha Rao said it would become difficult for TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao to move in Telangana districts if the party decides to react in similar manner.
After reaching Gajwel, Naidu spent sometime with the families of two farmers who committed suicide when their cotton seed did not germinate.
He also consoled the family of another person who borrowed Rs 80,000 from three MFIs, and died of heart attack when the MFIs mounted pressure on him to repay the debt.
Naidu who took serious view of the TRS attack on his convoy, said it was not fair on the part of the separatist party to create trouble for him while he was going to console the families of MFI victims. “The TDP is the first party to console the MFI victims. No other party has so far done anything for the families of victims. Instead of complimenting me, the TRS is creating trouble," he said.
Later, Naidu paid Rs 50,000 each to the three families of MFI victims.
He demanded that the state government pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of MFI victims.
Though the TRS blocked his way and resorted to violence at Pragnapur, there was in fact no opposition from people to his visit. Since he was the first political leader to visit them, people lauded the gesture of the opposition leader.
