BERHAMPUR: The cultural programmes staged by the south Indian artists and film-stars at the all India Telugu conference pulled hundreds of spectators on Friday evening, the first day of the three-day meet.
Not only the Telugu-speaking people, but hundreds of Oriya spectators also thronged the venue to witness the performance of different stage and film artists of Andhra Pradesh. The prime attraction was the performance of veteran Telugu cine actress Jayasudha, who is also the Congress MLA from Secunderabad, and P. Sai Kumar, who is known as the dialogue king' in Telugu movie-world. Local artists also took part in the programme.
"It was a nice opportunity for the locals to get a taste of south Indian culture and for the local artists to rub shoulders with the veterans of the glam-world," said P. Satyanarayana, president of the organizing committee.
The three-day national level Telugu conference was orgnized by the PSTU in collaboration with the Berhampur based Andhra Bhashabhivardhani Samajam and several other Telugu organizations in the state. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the meet.
On the second day of the conference on Saturday, seminars on Telugu history and culture, fine arts, journalism were held. The vice chancellor of the PSTU, A. Bhoomaiah inaugurated the seminar. On the final day, a seminar on trends in modern language and literature will be held, the organizers said.
