Buddhadeb writes to Chidambaram on ''Trinamool-Maoist nexus''

Kolkata, Feb 3 (NI24) The West Bengal government todaylodged a fresh complaint with the Centre against TrinamoolCongress, accusing it of having a "nexus" with Maoists.
In a letter to Home Minister P Chidambaram, ChiefMinister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee cited the arrest of twopersons from a Trinamool Congress-run camp in Midnapore whoallegedly had Maoist link.


"The chief minister sent a letter to the Union HomeMinister during the day on the arrest of two persons on Mondayhaving Maoist link," CM secretariat sources said.

The copy of the letter was not made available to thereporters.

Asked why the chief minister took three days to write theletter, the sources said he had waited for evidences of theTrinamool''s Maoist connection.

Describing the incident as ''extremely dangerous'',Bhattacharjee had stated on Monday that the inmates of themunicipality-run camp had obstructed the police on January 31during the arrest of the two who had been given shelter there.

Bhattacharjee had also said he would shortly inform UnionHome Minister of the incident and added, "I would like toremind Mr Chidambaram about his responsibility in the matter."

"In my last meeting with Chidambaram in Delhi, I referredto the Trinamool-Maoist link. I would again remind him aboutthis continuing relationship between Trinamool and Maoists,"the chief minister had said.

Bhattacharjee had warned Trinamool at a public meeting onTuesday that action would be taken on the basis of evidencesof the opposition party''s link with the ultras.
