And taking on Rahul is Akhilesh Yadav, heir to Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Akhilesh, first off the block touring the state for the last six months as Samajwadi Party worked hard on an image make over.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has been the last one to hit the campaign track but remains the star vote catcher for the BSP. And denying ticket to more than a hundred MLAs, Mayawati has tried to neutralise anti-incumbency working against her.
The BJP though has not not declared a Chief Minister candidate for Uttar Pradesh but is relying on Uma Bharti and OBC upper caste combination for its revival while its star campaigner Narendra Modi has so far kept himself away from electioneering.
