New York: For the first-time in Manhattan, New Yorkers can experience an authentic Indian Folk Arts Market. Five master artists from across India are here, displaying their wares and the art that dates back to centuries.
"We are here to expose our work and gain access to a new market. It is a huge achievement for artisans," said artisan Firdose Ahmad Jan.
The aim behind this project is to create a global market for Indian handicrafts and economic sustainability for its artists.
"While the Indian market is large, getting the overseas market is good to add to it as then it means a better livelihood for the artists and their children," said Gita Ram, Crafts Council of India.

Weaves, block printing, tie dye and patchwork appliqué work are all wowing Americans.
"I love the colours. This is gorgeous," said a delighted visitor.
Customers leave here happy, laden with shopping bags and knowing that that 90 percent of the money from sales goes directly to the artist.
