For Sania, who is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib malik, it will be a case of celebrating two Independence Days. Sania is currently in the US playing the hard court season while her husband is busy with the Pakistan national team on their tour of England. The famous duo have maintained it is strictly a personal relationship and should not be politicised as India-Pakistan relationship. On this special day though, the relationship is more a message of peace, love and friendship between the two 'warring' nations.

There have been innumerable controversies in Sania's personal and professional life, The flag controversy threatened to pin her down but the fighter that she has always been, she least allowed it to ruffle her. It is a known fact that Sania has always put her country in front of self and that was as much evident in her stunning performance at the Doha Asian Games as was in her disappointment on missing out on a chance to impress for India at the Beijing Olympics.
