Debutant actress Sandeepa Dhar, who will be seen in “Isi Life Mein”, wants to be known for her dancing skills just like her role model Madhuri Dixit.
“Dance plays quite an important part in this film and me being a die hard fan of Madhuri Dixit want to make it big with my moves. It is hard to reach the level, but I wish I become famous for my dancing skills just like her (Madhuri),” Sandeepa said over phone from Mumbai.
Director Sooraj Barjatya, instrumental in making Salman Khan a star by giving him a meaty role in his 1989 blockbuster “Maine Pyaar Kiya”, is releasing “Isi Life Mein” Dec 24.
“I’m playing a 17-year-old who hails from Ajmer. She belongs to a very conservative family where girls are married off at a very young age. They are not allowed to follow their dream. The movie brings my journey on screen. It will show conflict between conservative and progressive thinking and one’s urge to fulfill one’s dream.”
Sandeepa, who graduated in mass media from Chandigarh and holds a Masters in advertising, was trained at Shiamak Davar’s school of dancing.
“I took training under Shiamak for quite a few years. And luckily I have got an opportunity to show my skills in the movie. The movie has two dance sequences which have been choreographed by Terrence Lewis. The numbers are contemporary and I will be seen doing jazz and tap dance,” she said.
Sandeepa says Terrence was quite tough on them.
“Terrence made me and my co-star Akshay Oberoi bleed, plead for mercy. It was not at all easy for us to do those lifts. But when we saw the end result, then the body ache, wounds, cuts didn’t make much of a difference,” he recalled.
