TIRUVUR (Krishna): Maverick MP Lagadapati Rajagopal landed himself in another controversy when he pushed and shoved a local Congress leader at a Rachchabanda meeting in Chittela village in Tiruvur mandal in Krishna district on Monday. Later, the local leader was reportedly bashed up by Lagadapati's followers for questioning their leader at the meeting.
It all began when the Vijayawada MP was receiving complaints from the local people on their problems. Kolli Ashok, who runs Kolli Charitable Trust, picked up an argument with the MP alleging that he had completely ignored the party cadres.
Ashok, now a loyalist of Jagan group, charged Lagadapati with protecting his business interests in the guise of Samaikhya Andhra movement. "You do not have time for local party activists but have all the time in the world to amass wealth and safeguard your assets. Your united Andhra movement is nothing but a farce," he alleged. He went on to claim that Lagadapati was using the Samaikhya Andhra movement to shield himself from corrupt practices.
It was at this moment the MP lost his cool. Seething with rage, he got up from the chair and strongly pushed Ashok. While Ashok was taken aback at the development, the MP's followers also joined. They took Ashok aside. When he tried to run away, the followers landed some blows on him. They heckled him for having `questioned' their leader. The Rachchabanda meeting thus ended in chaos. No police case was registered yet.
