Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya, was an eminent Indian engineer wizard and statesman born in Muddenahalli-Kanivenarayanapura in present day Karnataka. He served as the chief engineer during construction of Krishna Raja Sagara on the Kaveri River nearMysore and also many dams in Bombay presidency (Maharashtra).
He has also won Bharat Ratna for his contributions in this field.September 15, 2010 is the 150 anniversary of the birth of Sir Visvesvarayya.
