Pakistan has failed to live up to its promises to bring to book the masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said Friday on the second anniversary of the mayhem.
Pakistan had made many promises, including arresting the seven accused in the 26/11 attack, Chidambaram said at a function in Borivali here.“They have not done so. I must caution the people of this country that we have a neighbour who has not yet kept its promises to us,” Chidambaram declared.
He recalled the sacrifice made by Mumbai police assistant-sub-inspector Tukaram Ombale whose courage and sacrifice ensured that one of the 10 terrorists – Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab – was nabbed alive.
“If Kasab had died, there would have been no conclusive link to Pakistan in the terror attack,” Chidambaram pointed out.
Chidambaram saluted Ombale’s bravery and sacrifice for the people of the city and the country. “We shall never forget it,” he assured Ombale’s family members.
